Primary & Well-Recognised Neurodivergences
These are the conditions most commonly associated with the term "neurodivergent."
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC): A developmental condition characterized by differences in social communication, interaction, and sensory processing, often accompanied by intense, focused interests and a need for routine.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD): A condition characterized by a persistent pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity that interferes with functioning or development.
Dyslexia: A specific learning disability that affects reading and language processing. It impacts accurate and fluent word recognition, spelling, and decoding abilities.
Dyscalculia: A specific learning disability that affects a person's ability to understand numbers and learn math facts.
Dysgraphia: A specific learning disability that affects written expression, including handwriting, spelling, and coherence.
Dyspraxia (Developmental Coordination Disorder): A condition affecting physical coordination, making planned movements and fine/gross motor skills more difficult.
Tourette's Syndrome: A neurological disorder characterized by involuntary, repetitive movements and vocalizations called tics.
