"A person-centred psychologist and psychotherapist — clinical, counselling, and occupational — who believes every person comes before any method."
Antonello Sirigu
Clinical, Counselling, Occupational Psychologist and Psychotherapist
I work with adults facing anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, psychotic presentations including schizophrenia, neurodivergence — particularly autism spectrum conditions and ADHD, as well as learning disabilities — and older people, including those living with dementia and other cognitive decline, as well as their families and carers. Alongside this clinical work, I bring a second, less common perspective: I am also a Work and Organisational Psychologist, with a long-standing specialism in workplace bullying and mobbing, work-related stress, and burnout, an area I have studied and worked in since 2005, from supporting affected individuals directly to organisational-level assessment and prevention with employers and agencies. This dual background means I see distress not only as something personal, but often as something shaped by the workplace and the systems people live and work inside.
My clinical practice spans NHS and Italian mental health services over more than fifteen years. I currently work as a Highly Specialist Psychological Therapist within an NHS inpatient psychological therapy service, providing assessment, individual and group therapeutic work, formulation, and support to patients, carers and multidisciplinary teams. I have also worked as a Senior Clinical Psychologist within older people's mental health services, providing neuropsychological assessment and psychological intervention to people living with dementia and complex needs, in hospital wards and the community. I have worked at the interface between primary and secondary mental health care, providing brief, evidence-based interventions to people who would otherwise fall through the gap between the two. Earlier in my career, in Italy, I trained and worked for several years within the public mental health service, covering clinical psychology, psychopathology, psychodiagnostics, and psychotherapy across individual, group, and family work, including direct clinical and rehabilitative work with people experiencing paranoid schizophrenia.
For several years I have also provided psychotherapy and counselling entirely online, alongside in-person work, and I am fully comfortable and experienced delivering therapy remotely — building rapport, assessing risk, and working with the same clinical standards as in person, through video and secure messaging.
My approach is "comparative" — genuinely integrative rather than tied to a single model. I draw on and combine Psychodynamic, Cognitive-Behavioural (CBT), Systemic-Relational, Gestalt, Motivational Interviewing, and DBT approaches, choosing what fits the person and the problem rather than fitting the person to one method.
I am registered with the Order of Psychologists since 2007, in Italy, qualified to practise psychotherapy since 2011 (School of Comparative Psychotherapy, Florence), and registered in the UK with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist across the Clinical, Counselling and Occupational scopes of practice. I work in both Italian and English, online or in person.
